Mom’s Perfect Chocolate Chip Zucchini Bread
This chocolate chip zucchini bread recipe is our mom’s go-to, fail-proof version. She has been using this zucchini recipe with chocolate chips (and we have been eating the final product) for years.
Our original recipe for this zucchini bread did not call for chocolate chips, but our family has a huge sweet tooth. We actually have a chocolate tooth, and now we won’t eat this bread without the chocolate chips.
The smell of this bread baking, especially the cinnamon aroma, is delightful, and takes us right back to our childhood. Mom would make dozens of loaves of this chocolate chip zucchini bread every summer. It’s good anytime but a piece of this homemade quick zucchini bread fresh out of the oven (well, you should let it cool for a bit) is heavenly.

This zucchini bread recipe is so easy that kids can even make it with very little assistance.
Case in point, my 11-year-old daughter made this easy chocolate chip zucchini bread for her Foods projection in 4-H. All I did was supervise, and it turned out amazing.

HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE CHIP ZUCCHINI BREAD
Step By Step Instructions
- Spray 2 loaf pans generously with nonstick cooking spray.
- Add eggs, oil, sugar, zucchini, and vanilla to a mixer bowl; mix until well combined.
- In a separate large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and baking powder.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing after each addition until just incorporated.
- In a small bowl, mix chocolate chips with 1 T. flour.
- Stir chocolate chips into batter by hand.
- Pour batter into prepared pans.
- Sprinkle with additional chocolate chips if desired.
- Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for a few minutes before removing to a wire rack.
Storage Instructions
Let the bread cool completely. Store in an airtight container or zip-lock bag at room temperature for 2 – 3 days. You can store in the refrigerator for a longer amount of time; however, it might change the texture of the bread.
